Things to Know About Tomorrow Morning's Season 5 Patch

Is there downtime? Will my replays still work? How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?

Season 5 is almost here fellow chrononauts, are y'all ready? Got the delorean all gassed up? Plenty of juice left in the TARDIS? Did you write "HOPE!!" on the side of mom's time machine? We hope you did, because server downtime starts late tonight/early tomorrow morning at 4 a.m. Eastern/1 a.m. Pacific, according to Epic. We'll have the patch notes up as soon as they're available, which should be right when the servers go down, but considering the anticipated size of this update, tonight's downtime may last longer than is typical.

Epic points out that the Season 5 update is "larger than usual," but not to what degree. Nevertheless, the recommend having automatic updates turned on so everything will be downloaded and ready to go when you skip work load up the game in the morning. Download speeds may also be slower than is typical from Epic servers, since Season 5 is such a big burger-findin' deal, and we recommend steeling yourself against the possibility that some things may break once Fortnite comes back online.

One last PSA: If you're in love with any of the replays you have saved, the clock is very ticking. Existing replays are not supported by this new build of the game, so if you have any moments of triumph and/or tragedy that you simply must preserve, today is the day to do so. We recommend OBS Studio for your archiving needs, as it's free and relatively easy to set up.

That's it! We'll see you all in the morning! Don't get fired because of Fortnite!
